Resources for running Swashbuckler! games
If you prefer to print rather than photocopy from the rulebook, here are some downloadable .pdf files of resources from the book:
Play Aids
Scenario maps
Historic maps and moon phases
There are a number of useful online sources for historic maps:
The Royal collection trust maintains a free online archive of George III’s military maps ranging from 1532 to 1815.
Old Maps Online has a collection of historic maps and also a great interactive tool to show you how political boundaries changed over time - great for planning political intrigue.
Timemaps also has an interactive tool to show political maps throughout history, together with condensed notes on major historical events and trends - very helpful for getting a handle on overall events.
If you want a little historic realism, you can use Moongiant.com to display a calendar of the phase of the moon for more or less any date in history.
Rules Extensions
Integration to Black Seas
Warlord Games' very popular game of fighting ships in the golden age of sail is a great game, achieving a brilliant balance of historic accuracy and playability. I have sometimes used it to resolve sea battles in Swashbuckler! games - here are conversion rules for doing so.
